Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Adam Greenwell (“I” or “me”) collects, uses, and protects any information you provide when you use my personal blog, adamgreenwell.com.

Who I Am

The website address is: https://adamgreenwell.com. I operate and manage this personal blog.

Comments

When you leave a comment on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string. I use this information to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you use Gravatar) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images or other media to the website (such as when seeking plugin support), you should avoid uploading files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website (or I, the site owner) may be able to download and extract any location data from images on the website.

File Uploads (Support & Troubleshooting)

When you upload files or media to the site for the purpose of seeking support, troubleshooting an issue with a plugin, or requesting a feature, I will store these files for a reasonable period necessary to resolve your request and for my own administrative and record-keeping purposes. These files are only used to help diagnose and fix the issue you report. I will not share these files with third parties, except as required for legal compliance or security purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you may choose to opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience so you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

  • Temporary Cookies for Administration: If you visit my login page (for my use as the site owner), I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • Login and Screen Cookies: When I log in, I also set up cookies to save my login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year.
  • Editing Cookies: If I edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in my browser. This cookie expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you, the visitor, have visited the other website.

These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. This is particularly true if you have an account and are logged in to that external website (e.g., YouTube, Twitter, etc.).

Analytics

I use Google Analytics to collect non-personally identifiable information about website usage, such as which pages are most popular and how long visitors stay on the site. This data is used solely to help me understand my audience and improve the content of the blog. I do not collect any personal data through Google Analytics.

Who I Share Your Data With

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

If I, as the site administrator, request a password reset for my account, my IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long I Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

I do not have a user registration feature on this blog, so I do not store any personal information in user profiles.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have left comments on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to minimize spam.
