Getting Started with Lumenare Search

Get up and running with Lumenare Search in minutes.

Installation

  1. Upload and Activate
  • Upload the lumenare-search folder to /wp-content/plugins/
  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  1. Initial Configuration
  • Go to Settings > Lumenare Search
  • Ensure “Enable Plugin” is checked
  • Configure basic settings:
    • Search placeholder text
    • Minimum characters (default: 3)
    • Post types to search
  1. Build the Index
  • Navigate to the Index Management tab
  • Click “Reindex All Content”
  • Wait for indexing to complete (runs in batches for large sites)

That’s it! Your search is now enhanced with Lumenare Search.

Basic Configuration

General Settings

Enable Plugin: Turn the plugin on/off globally

Search Placeholder: Text shown in the search input field

Minimum Characters: Number of characters required before search triggers (recommended: 3)

Post Types to Search: Select which post types to include in search results

Search Quality Settings

Keyword Match Mode:

  • Any (OR): Results contain at least one keyword (broader results) – Recommended for most sites
  • All (AND): Results must contain all keywords (precise results)

Stop Words: Common words to exclude from indexing (one per line)

Synonyms: Groups of equivalent words (one group per line, comma-separated)

Fuzzy Matching: Enable typo tolerance (recommended: enabled)

Display Settings

Results Per Page: Number of results on search results page (default: 10)

Dropdown Results: Number of results in live search dropdown (default: 10)

Enable Search Term Highlighting: Highlight matching terms in results (recommended: enabled)

Using the Search

Automatic Integration

Lumenare Search automatically replaces:

  • Default WordPress search forms
  • Gutenberg Search blocks
  • Theme search forms

No additional configuration needed!

Shortcode

Add search form anywhere with:

[lumenare_search]

Widget

Add the “Lumenare Search” widget to any widget area:

  1. Go to Appearance > Widgets
  2. Add “Lumenare Search” widget
  3. Configure widget settings

Reindex Content

When to reindex:

  • After changing stop words
  • After changing post types to search
  • After changing weights
  • After bulk content updates

How to reindex:

  1. Go to Settings > Lumenare Search > Index Management
  2. Click “Reindex All Content”
  3. Or use Partial Reindex for specific updates

Adjust Relevance

If results aren’t relevant:

  1. Review weighting system: Tuning Guide
  2. Adjust title/excerpt/content weights
  3. Add stop words for irrelevant terms
  4. Configure synonyms for better matching
  5. Reindex after changes
